Aging in Place & Accessible Design

Your home should fit your needs, whatever they may be. Mobility challenges can make living at home and performing every day tasks difficult and dangerous. Our goal is to help bring a sense of independence and safety by tailoring your home to your requirements – without sacrificing your style!

We want to know what your typical day looks like and how we can improve it. We do this by assessing your home’s current conditions and how you and loved ones move about the home. A few of the areas we cover are access in/out of the home, flow and maneuverability in important spaces such as kitchens and baths, potential hazards, comfort and safety in kitchens and baths, and many other client-specific needs.

Grab Bar

Grab Bars

Keep you and your loved ones SAFE in your bathroom! The bathroom is one of the most dangerous rooms in the home for people wanting to remain in their homes and age in place. Grab bars are safety devices designed to help you maintain balance and support and decrease fatigue while standing. They also help in supporting weight when getting up and down, or give you something to grab onto in case of a slip or fall.  They can be ordered in a variety of styles and colors to blend with your home’s style.

Wheelchair Ramps & Accessible Paths

Mobility limitations can make living at home difficult. Because of that, adapting your home’s walkways, hallways and paths of travel as well as adding ramps can improve the quality of life for people living with mobility issues. Ramps make it possible for those using wheelchairs to reach a higher or lower elevation that would normally require steps, like a porch or deck. Even if you don’t need a wheelchair, anyone can benefit from step-free walkways. Ramps can be used to avoid tripping on steps or having to hold onto handrails to get around.

Work Surfaces

One of the aspects affected by mobility is a person’s self-sufficiency. Not being able to reach cabinets, open faucets in the bathroom or kitchen, and not being able to use countertops to prepare meals or get ready because of lack of wheelchair access can have a large impact on your  sense of independence. Lower work surfaces also make it possible for someone to sit while preparing a meal or when getting ready.
